As the CEO of Dallas-based D&M Leasing, Micheal Albert Hernandez III guides a firm with four decades of history behind it. Since joining the company in the early 1980s, Micheal Albert (“Mike”) Hernandez III assumed its partial ownership in 1990 and full ownership a decade ago. Today, D&M Leasing stands as the leading consumer car leasing enterprise in the United States.
Currently semi-retired, Mike Hernandez III has returned to his native Brownsville to focus on philanthropic activities. Committed to contributing $10 million over the next 10 years to organizations that will improve the community, he recently donated more than $1 million to his alma mater, Texas A&M University, for scholarships designated for first-generation university students.
Through the Brownsville Scholars Program, funds will be distributed annually to 10 worthy students in the area who are attending Texas A&M University. All recipients must demonstrate financial need and be a Regents’ Scholarship recipient. Mike Hernandez III’s philanthropic vision extends to OP 10.33, a nonprofit he founded to improve the local economy and social landscape substantially by 2033.
